From trainee to director

Having joined Ryans in 2012 whilst finalising my professional exams, I quickly progressed through to manager and eventually became a director and 50% owner at the start of 2018.

Since then, I’ve helped grow Ryans from a small practice into a multi-million-pound firm with a 40+ strong team. My focus has always been on building a business that acts as an adviser rather than just an accountant helping owner-managed businesses across the UK with:

Tax planning – wealth maximisation and protection strategies.
Business advisory – strengthening systems, processes, and resilience.
Growth & exit planning – increasing value and guiding sales and acquisitions.

Building relationships, not just balance sheets

With our clients, we operate a little differently from most other firms, acting as an adviser rather than an accountant for small and medium owner-managed businesses all around the UK, with a nucleus in the North West. We assist with the setup, implementation and use of software (accountancy and other). Our business advisory includes the set-up of systems and processes, identifying strengths and weaknesses in the business and then safeguarding around these areas. Complex tax planning includes wealth maximisation strategies. We also help with growth and exit planning, including increasing business value, together with the day-to-day advice and guidelines around compliance for accountancy and tax. We’re solutions-focused at Ryans and see ourselves as an extension of our clients’ business. No matter the problem our clients may face, we work hard to ensure we can assist. I’m personally extremely passionate about business and assisting clients to achieve their goals. This starts with understanding the people behind the business, and it’s where all my relationships with clients start.

A journey of growth, giving back, and guiding others

I’m proud to have supported clients through transformational journeys, such as iHeat, where we’ve worked closely with the founders on scaling strategy, financial structure, and long-term planning. Beyond this, I have advised on buy-side and sell-side M&A transactions ranging from £500k to £20m, giving business owners confidence in every stage of their growth or exit.

Outside of Ryans, I invest in commercial property and hospitality ventures and am a proud supporter of Bolton Lads and Girls Club, which provides vital opportunities for young people. I also work with the ICAEW to inspire future accountants sharing my journey to show that background should never be a barrier to success. My career so far has been built on perseverance, hard work, and a passion for helping businesses and people achieve their full potential.
